Since 1962 Liverpool Speakers Club has helped an ever increasing number of people to become effective speakers.
We offer the opportunity of skilled and sensitive coaching in all aspects of competent communication. We can show you how to put on persuasive presentations, make an impact at meetings, and overcome the 'fear' of a Formal Conference Speech.
Perhaps, in the past, you may have been asked to propose a toast or say a few words at a social gathering? Maybe you nerves got the better of you? Did your knees turn to jelly, found it difficult to breathe, and felt your words went down like a lead balloon? If so come and join our club!
Let us show you how to get in 'synch' with your body language and become a convincing speaker.
You are welcome to come along to our meetings* and see if it is for you. If you wish we will introduce you to a mentor, a club member who will help you at all times.
When you join us, you progress at your own pace with the help of experienced and empathetic members. We will assist you to assess your strengths and weaknesses and decide how you should begin the process of becoming and improved speaker.
Your first speaking attempt at the club is called 'making a start', this could be a few words about yourself or your interests. Topic Sessions (Impromptu Speaking) are a club feature that cover a wide range of interesting subjects and provide an opportunity to increase your speaking skills.
At the club we have twelve speaking assignments for you to cover. They include preparation, speech construction, breath control and how to use your voice. Then comes, how to capture your audience, weaving word pictures into your speech and the use of pause, pitch and pace.
At a later stage you may be interested in making a lap-top presentation and it may be possible to to video your performance for playback and evaluation. Let us know your speaking requirements and we will do our best to provide a tailor made training package.
The Liverpool Speakers Club is part of the Association of Speakers Clubs, who have clubs in many towns and cities. This is particularly helpful to people who may have to work in other areas, but wish to continue their interest in Public Speaking.
Performing in public is not always a serious activity. It can provide many a smile and a laugh - intended or otherwise! Speaking to an audience can be enjoyable and energizing - so why not give it a try!
Remember - we communicate on many levels, by just being who we are!
